This week I got the privilege of cuddling some new baby squishy goodness. Oh how I love newborns. Their grunts and squeaks and sighs and those unconscious smiles. Photographing babies is definitely one of my most favourite things. This family found me through Megan and Micah, past clients of mine after seeing their newborn photos and falling in love with them. I love my clients, they rock! Here in... [more]
The H. family | North Vancouver family photographer
Summer finally arrived in Vancouver and I think we all breathed a sigh of relief. And now it is hot, hot, hot here in the lower mainland. The bonus to living near the beach is that at least we get a breeze. I love summer and I especially love summer in Vancouver. Having such a beautiful area to choose from for photography, with such great backdrops is awesome. I got to photograph the H. family a couple weeks ago, and they chose Lonsdale Quay for their photos because they wanted to get the city in the background for some of them for their shots, so they could show their family in Mexico.
We waited until the sun was lower, so we could take advantage of that warm summer evening glow. The magic hour. I think we got some fun shots that truly reflect this funny, outgoing and fun family.

Check out the hair on this dude! Isn’t it awesome????

They had to burn off some steam…

Thanks Laurita and Robin so choosing me to do your family portraits! I hope you and your family is as thrilled with them as I am.
Have a fantastic time in Mexico!
This is why I live. Why I do what I do, why I work so hard to give them a better life than I had, why I would throw myself in front of a train to save them. They hold my heart in their hands. Those grubby, little boy fingers have my heart firmly gripped, and to remove their hands, would be to stop me from breathing. Sappy maybe. I’ve been in a rough place in the last little while, I miss them... [more]
I am a mother. Becoming a mom was life changing and the moment my sons were born, their first cries, their first time in my arms, well if you are a mom, you know that feeling. Your whole life suddenly makes sense. I am, though not by choice, now a single mother and this life comes with it’s own sets of challenges. Who will plan things like mother’s day, my birthday, who will stuff my Christmas... [more]
After some pretty annoying and stressful technical difficulties with my website being down for three days (!!!), I am finally able to blog my recent newborn session. I had a temporary post over here, at my Livejournal, but I was so excited when I found that I was back online, so I can post here! The other day I got to hold and snuggle and cuddle the cutest brand new baby girl. Abrielle. Just six days... [more]
Every day for the past couple of weeks I have been dealing with a persistent and annoying tapping outside our bedroom windows starting early in the morning and continuing off and on all day. I discovered that it is thanks to a cheeky woodpecker who has taken to tapping a hole into the side of our home. If I come out and scare it away, he/she flies around to the other side and attacks the wall on the... [more]
Yesterday we went to Ambleside beach in West Vancouver, and it was so windy that Wyatt almost got blown away. We originally went to take advantage of the sun and wind to fly Ben’s kite, but unfortunately the wind was so strong it ripped the handle right out of his hands. Poor Ben. But at least we got a picture of it before it flew into a tree, where it is likely still stuck (if anyone feels... [more]
Well last week I had the extreme privilege of doing a maternity session for one of the coolest couples I think I’ve ever met! Megan and Micah got married not that long ago in a small, intimate ceremony with their friends and family. We got to photograph that too. We wanted to get a session in before their baby arrives some time in April. Or maybe May. The weather was horrid, but in keeping... [more]
I love little boys. Having two of my own, I am well accustomed to what comes along with them- noise, burps, dirt, silly faces, and lots and lots of lego! But what boys also have is a sparkle and energy that makes them so much fun. And less shrieky. Maybe I am biased because I don’t have any daughters, but I really enjoy being mom to boys, and working with them in portraiture is always an adventure.... [more]
The other day was all about glamour and pin up style, with a stunningly beautiful girl. We did a boudoir session with a specific style in mind and I think we pulled it off. H, I hope you are happy with your pictures. They will be uploaded into a gallery for your private viewing. In the meantime here are a few work safe images because I just couldn’t resist. I am too excited to wait, and you... [more]
