It was raining and cold, but Jeremy and Karen’s wedding went off without a hitch. It was a small, intimate affair. Mid afternoon, stand up reception, and given the weather, it was actually a bonus that the whole thing was held at the Holiday Inn in North Vancouver. This made picture taking easier, as we didn’t have to deal with running out in the rain, under umbrellas.

We had only a short time for pictures, but thanks to Karen and Jeremy’s family being organized and on the ball, we were able to get their family pics quickly, ensuring that no one had to stand out in the cold for too long. We took a little time to get some shots of the bride and groom and their wedding party, and in the short time we had we got some great shots. After the ceremony, both the bride and groom were noticeably less stressed. It was over, they survived, they could have fun!

Our day started at the salon, where Karen and the girls got their hair done.

The nerves start to settle in…

Karen and her maid of honour. They were beautiful, and I love that this moment was caught as they were posing for a family member.

Jeremy helps his sons get ready. They were so cute in their tuxes. And of course there was a little fun and goofing off!

We got to the location, and as usual, there was collective relief from the bride and groom once it was finished, and they were officially husband and wife.

And of course, there were tears from the bride. That is the part I love most about weddings; being front and centre, capturing these moments. Joy, tears, laughter…it is a privilege to be able to preserve those emotions for my clients to look back on years from now.

While the grownups mingled the kids played twister….

It was great to see our engagement session photos put to good use! Coffee and Starbucks are Karen and Jeremy’s thing, so they made up Starbucks cards as their giveaways, with one of their engagement shots on the front. They also used coffee beans in their decor, which I thought was pretty clever.

The flower girl was adorable. She was attached to Karen all day, and the complete and utter awe with which she regarded her aunt was so touching. Her eyes lit up when she saw Karen in her wedding dress, and was over the moon that she got to ride in the limo, AND wear lip gloss!

The most hilarious part of the day, was that both the bouquet and the garter we caught by kids!

Sometimes it’s the kids that provide the best images.

I loved this next shot, just because it was a fraction of a second before they kissed, and Jeremy’s son standing in front of them blocking the view as he blew bubbles made the image.

After the reception the wedding party moved to the pub. We went over to join them, and grabbed a few fun shots, before retiring our cameras for the night.

It was a perfect way to end their wedding; Jeremy and Karen letting loose and having some much deserved fun, surrounded by their friends. Thanks for letting us tag along with you!

The pokadot dress and the frosting face are my two faves in this session. Adorable!
