He is nearly 10. Ten! I can’t believe it. He’s come so far, and had so many struggles this past few years, but I know he has a beautiful heart and is kind, and loving, and oh so smart.

I look at these images and I see him. I see his soul. He’s so serious at times, and even as a little wee baby, had this look. Like he was holding back himself. But when he lets go and is excited, and animated, talking about video games, or his other interests, he comes alive. It’s when he is confident and sure of himself. I am working on building that confidence, because school has not been kind to him, and he doesn’t believe he is smart. But he is. He is also deep. And perceptive. And though he is a worrier, he cares about others.

I don’t often get pictures of him, as he doesn’t like to pose for me but I did get these two. I also have some film in my Eos at the moment, that I am using with my friends 95mm 2.8 macro lens. I think I may have a couple of him on that rolll.

Here there is still a little bit of that innocent babyishness to his face.

I see the teen he is on his way to becoming here.
